WTF are you doing here?

I had good intentions when I started this blog in November of 2006. Of course, we all know that the road to hell is paved with those and honestly...who really noticed that I haven't posted an entry in over two years? Heck, I barely even noticed.

I really don't know why I'm even writing one now. I don't have anything especially enlightening to share today, but as I type that, it brings to mind a question that has plagued me since the whole blogging craze started...

Who really cares what I have to say? Who cares what is going on in my silly, insignificant life?

I'm not asking that to garner sympathy or reassurance from anyone who would happen to stumble upon this thing. I don't need anyone to pat me on the head and tell me that I am indeed “a special little star.” Rather, I'm asking because I really want to know.

Why do people read blogs? And why do the writers of blogs think that anyone outside their circle of friends cares what they have to say?

I can understand an interest in blogs that are ABOUT something...a hobby, a game, a movie, a book, a fan club...but the blogs that are just people like me prattling on about their day...what's so interesting about that?

Are we all voyeurs at heart, hoping to find some little tidbit in a blog that will make us titter and feel just a bit naughty? The internet is for p0rn?

Or do we scour blogs on the internet hoping to find some little bit of wisdom about life that we have failed to glean for ourselves? Isn’t there supposed to be one sentence that will set us free from all doubt and reveal to us the meaning of life?

Maybe we read adventurous/spiritual/humorous blogs because we’re looking for hope that our lives too can be this fun/uplifting/entertaining? Anyone else need rescued from their 8am to 5pm office job?

Or perhaps we read blogs because we just need that little bit of reassurance that our own boring existence is…normal. Face it. How bored are YOU that you’re reading my blog that is questioning why you’re reading my blog?

So, tell me…

Why do you read blogs?

My first sale!

Well, I've actually made my first sale! "Return to Me" was sold at Erewhon Gallery. (Here's a link to view the image that sold http://www.amberstar.net/return.jpg )

I'm stunned, elated, grateful, and most of all inspired. Had someone told me a couple of years ago that I would be selling my art in art gallery...ACTUALLY SELLING!...I would have laughed at them. It's truly amazing how life can take twists and turns that you could never predict.

Sometimes, the twists can be kind of painful and the turns can be pretty sharp, but if you can just hang in there and believe in yourself and keep searching for that mark of destiny that we all carry on our souls then you'll find that it was all worthwhile.

Never lose hope.

Peace,

PJ

Scattered

Focus
Mind wandering
Fingers reaching
Eyes drifting
Scattered

So many things to do! This past weekend I was at Erewhon Gallery in Akron, OH. http://www.erewhonart.com/ My art is being shown there. I'm very excited about this!

I'm also in the process of writing a book titled, "Rise of the Maiden." It's a fantasy fiction tale dealing with wizards and warriors and magic and swords. Fun stuff for all you LotR fans! I don't claim to be on the same level as Tolkien, but I think the story is very interesting and I love my characters. :)

In between writing and creating my digital art, I have my own website to complete and one for my brother-in-law's business.

Oh, and did I mention that I'm dealing with the fallout of a recent physical move? Boxes, boxes, and more boxes to unpack. But they'll wait, right? No one gives out awards for unpacking your house the fastest, right?

It's times like this that I wonder if cloning is really a bad thing. Which brings me to the question...Is there a ghost in the machine? What do you think? Should cloning be allowed or are we tampering with something that could have horrible repercussions?

A Blog is Born

Hello, weary (or is that wary? :P ) travelers.

So, I started out thinking that I would just create this account so that I could post a reply on my family's blog, but now that I've made it, I'm thinking that this could be kind of fun. :)

My name is PJ O'Friel and this is my blog! Hopefully, in the days to come I'll share interesting thoughts with you and perhaps provide a little entertainment to brighten your day.

Today, I'm just going to tell something that I've learned from experience...

Life doesn't bring you to the edge of a cliff to just push you off. It brings you there to show you that you can fly.

Peace,

PJ
